Greetings cards available in January!
I now have a range of hand made greetings cards available in my Etsy shop from January. They are all made from letters taken from my ham radio card collection dating mainly from 1920s to 1940s. Check out my Etsy shop from 7th January for full details.
Now showing at The Lightbox, Woking
I am very happy to be chosen as the selected artist for this month’s café exhibition, at The Lightbox gallery in central Woking. My prints are on show until 4th November 2012. This amazing gallery is full of contemporary art and local heritage. An interesting place to visit and don’t forget to stop off at the café for some delicious refreshments…
June exhibition with Sir Peter Blake, Cirencester
I have been invited to exhibit at Wetpaint Gallery in Cirencester as part of their Sir Peter Blake & Pop Art show, from 23rd June to 21st July 2012. For more info visit www.contemporary-art-holdings.co.uk, telephone: 01285 644990. The gallery is at The Old Chapel, 14 London Road, Cirencester Glos GL7 1AE, open Tues – Sat, 10am – 5pm.
You may be interested to know Wetpaint Gallery is an approved member of the Arts Council England’s interest free loan scheme ‘Own Art’. The scheme offers 0% loans of up to £2000 for purchases of artwork by any living artist. It is designed to make it easy and affordable for people to buy contemporary works of art.
Just bought these vintage bits…
I couldn’t resist it… for when we get round to decorating our hallway. Vintage yardsticks upcycled into a beautiful coat rack from the Etsy shop Keeping it Coastal. Every one they make is unique and I particularly liked the wording (and the pink) on this one. I also bought this great exit sign from Killer Junk Studios on Etsy. I love these letterforms and the fact they are slightly embossed.
Marine plastic art by Steve McPherson
I came across this artist’s work and wanted to share it. Steve McPherson collects objects from beaches – wave worn and sun bleached, he collates them by type or colour and uses them to make incredible pieces of art.
Bristol Affordable Art Fair May
I am exhibiting at this prestigious art fair in Bristol with Liberty Gallery on stand D3 from 18th to 20th May 2012. Click here for details. You can download a half price entry ticket PDF if you click here.
I am introducing a range of mini-prints, which come in white hand painted frames. All of my Signals collection are available at this size – the frames are about 27 x 22cm, and the square frames are 24cm. They are quite chunky little frames, so would sit on a shelf, or of course can be hung. They look good in groups too. They are an open edition, quality giclée print and have ‘acrylic’ glass, so can be posted if well packaged. Come and see the full range at ‘Nine by Nine’ in Brighton, open every weekend in May, and look out for them in my Etsy shop soon. I have been neglecting my online shop I am afraid, but promise to do better!
Hand-made alphabet greetings cards
Beautiful individual letters from my ever-growing ham radio card collection! Using gold corners to hold the prints on textured felt cards works a treat. Thank you Sara at Unlimited Editions for the suggestion! I sold loads of these the first Open House weekend, so I know they are a hit. Planning to sell these online soon too…
Nine by Nine open house
Here are some pictures showing the variety of art on show at Nine by Nine, on the Dyke Road Arts Trail in Brighton May 2012. For venue details and Map click here.
Unlimited Editions open studio & ‘pop up’ shop
A couple of pictures here showing their fantastic new look studio shop. My prints are available here not just throughout May (Weds – Sun every week), but they run regular pop up shops at weekends during the year. If you happen to be in Brighton check them out, they are a treasure trove full of typographic / contemporary art and gifts. Click here for details.
Brighton Artist’s Open Houses May
I am taking part in the Brighton Artist’s Open House Festival running every weekend during May 2012 at two venues: Nine by Nine and Unlimited Editions. Don’t miss the chance to buy lower priced artist’s proofs and ‘mini prints’ available especially for the show, and I’ll have new work on show too. More details to follow.
Sneak a peek… new USSR print
I am planning to do a new print in the style of 1920′s Eastern Bloc/communist posters (derived from my authentic ham radio cards of that era). I may experiment more with compositions, but I like this one so far… What do you think?
20/21 RCA Art Fair launch
I managed to get to the opening of the RCA International Art Fair in London on 16th February. I was amazed at the wide range of styles on display and the mix of incredible artists: from stalwarts like Peter Blake, Howard Hodgkin and David Hockney, to (more or less) unknown artists like myself… with much lower price tags I might add! The atmosphere was buzzing and I am proud that my work sat well amongst such talent. I couldn’t resist taking a couple of pics of some beautifully crafted wooden horses. They were made by James Doran-Webb.
20/21 Art Fair London 16-19 Feb print free invite!
Come along to the Royal College of Art in Kensington, London (opposite the Royal Albert Hall) to see my work at the 20/21 International Art Fair. I am thrilled to say my ‘Signals: no. 2′ print made it into their publicity leaflet, with Peter Blake featured on the cover no less, so I am in very good company! My prints are available on Stand 54 from Liberty Gallery. If you contact me via my website contact form, I will email you back a free invitation you can print out!
At the fair, my prints are available in contemporary white painted chunky wood frames, with mounted prints available in the browser.

Poster featured on Channel 4
I decided I should be including press coverage in my blog… so here’s my 15 seconds of fame on TV! The poster from my exhibition at Castor & Pollux was featured in a new house renovation programme on Channel 4 called ‘The Renovation Game’. It happened to be set in Brighton and the couple having their house ‘make-over’ had one of my exhibition posters rolled up in a drawer, which the designer dug out and framed to brighten up their living room!
